The Tulare County Board of Supervisors is seeking District One residents to fill a vacancy on the Tulare County Youth Commission.  The vacancy was created by the resignation of Mary Rodarte.

“Mary Rodarte was an outstanding member of the Tulare County Youth Commission.  She always ensured grant funds were awarded to the most deserving applicant,” said District One Supervisor Allen Ishida.  “I am hopeful that we can find another person of Mary’s caliber to join the Youth Commission.”

The Tulare County Youth Commission reviews grant applications submitted through three different grant programs.  The grant programs are the Step Up Youth Activities grant, High School Service Learning and Junior High Service Learning.  The Youth Commission makes funding recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, which makes the final decision.  The Youth Commission also receives updates from grant recipients to ensure proper use of funds.

The filing period for the District One vacancy began on May 25th.  Applications are available at the Tulare County webpage, www.co.tulare.ca.us, the Board of Supervisors office at 2800 W. Burrel Avenue or by calling (559) 636-5000.  For more information about the Tulare County Youth Commission, contact Jeff Forbes at (559) 636-5000 or jforbes@co.tulare.ca.us
