The Tulare County Board of Supervisors is seeking District Three resident to fill a vacancy on the Tulare County Youth Commission.  The vacancy was created by the departure of College of the Sequoias President Bill Scroggins.

“Dr. Scroggins was an excellent member of the Youth Commission and always had the best interests of youth in mind,” said District Three Supervisor Phil Cox.  “I am hopeful that we can find another person of his caliber to join the Youth Commission.”

The Tulare County Youth Commission reviews grant applications submitted through three different grant programs.  The grant programs are the Step Up Youth Activities grant, High School Service Learning and Junior High Service Learning.  The Youth Commission makes funding recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, which makes the final decision.  The Youth Commission also receives updates from grant recipients to ensure proper use of funds.

The filing period for the District Three vacancy began on May 16th.  Applications are available at the Tulare County webpage, www.co.tulare.ca.us, the Board of Supervisors office at 2800 W. Burrel Avenue or by calling (559) 636-5000.  For more information about the Tulare County Youth Commission, contact Jeff Forbes at (559) 636-5000 or jforbes@co.tulare.ca.us
