The Tulare County Step Up #GROW (Generous, Resourceful, Opinionated, Well-Rounded) program partners with a local high school within Tulare County each year to engage freshmen & sophomores in the importance of community stewardship & civic engagement.
Over the program year, students build connections with one another and their local communities to see how much of an impact each person can have in improving the world around them. #GROW students participate in sessions meant to instill a service mindset, develop mental health & self-care strategies, be exposed to California’s cultural offerings and historic legacy, envision & execute multiple community service projects, and be provided a space in which to grow into their most authentic selves as they embark on their high school career.
Students who complete the program are given priority enrollment into the county-wide Step Up #LEAD program once they enter their junior year, which furthers their development by teaching leadership capabilities, life skills, college & career planning, additional service learning, and multiple field trips to further their understanding of the opportunities available to them.
